This is an old provisions store stablished in the same place, in the same building, since 1797. El Viejo Almacén is one of the first tango shows of the city, where the living glories of Tango plays every night for bring a classical repertoire. The quartet of the orchestra is integrated by big, giant, musicians, traditional Tango people, with “one thousand years and one thousand battles”. Very good tango to floor and also modern choreographies.
The beginning of the El Viejo Almacen Tango Show surprises with the unexpectedness of two women sitting in front of each other, it is not the typical couple nor the typical attitude that we expect to see at the beginning of a Tango show, however, as in several moments of the show, the stage is It is almost imperceptibly populated by other dancers and suddenly the four couples are making their first display. The classic numbers are enriched with innovative, refreshing elements, that Fredasterian cane, those three men who dance with each other, the woman fighting for them.
We see that combination of technique with expressiveness all the time. Tango steps are not done, they are lived, the poses do not exist, they are “fine dell'adagio”, there is the passion of Tango and there is the happiness of the dancer, the sensual complicity and the joy of dancing and that is what ends involving the audience, choreography is an excuse to dance and enjoy.
The flow of El Viejo Almacen Tango show through different couples and styles is fluid, the dancers show their comfort and mastery, the orchestra, which is once again a quintet, has a perfect tempo and the fluidity of the show is based on choreography and selection of Tangos. The folkloric number is wisely introduced by the Tango dancers who connect the audience with a gaucho couple as fresh as they are off the charts, they break the rusty feminine and masculine roles and both make an exhibition of skill in all the elements of this style (malambo, bass drum and boleadoras).
The female singer at has an imposing bearing and her voice is in tune with that sensual presence that fills the stage and captivates the room. What can we say about Mr Hugo Marcel, a living glory of Tango, the summit of that party that is the El Viejo Almacén show, taking us through a medley of songs and making even those who do not speak the language sing.
With several world tours as experience, the Show Directors of El Viejo Almacén conceives a powerful show, which carries all styles at a good pace and perfectly amalgamates the participation of duets, orchestras, gauchos and singers, knowing how to print a common thread that always takes us a little higher up in the enjoyment of what we are seeing and although the orchestra plays at the right pace and without running, suddenly we reach the end; We are all together in a great party up and down the stage, the smiles, the acting, the quality and the rhythm have brought us to Tango.
About food, the suggestion is the paté wrapped in prosciutto, green leaves, salt butter, toasted brioches as appetizer. For principal, the grilled trout from the south, herb sauce and port wine, served with steamed vegetables sautéed in olive oil and the El Viejo Almacén cake and the chocolate mousse sprinkled with coconut for an unforgettable dessert.
